SOT's origins date back to the University of Southern California campus, where members Rob Kerkovich, Todd Waldman, Kirstin Eggers, and Nick Massouh all starred in the improv comedy troupe Commedus Interruptus. While in college, the troupe built up a cult following, performing every Friday on the lawn for hundreds of fans and also opening for such comedians as Dave Chappelle, Norm MacDonald, and Jim Breuer.

After graduating college, the troupe performed in Tim Mckeon's hit play “Burning Down the House” and occasionally reunited to do improv shows. In the summer of 2004, Todd Waldman and Rob Kerkovich got the band back together and formed the sketch-based comedy troupe Summer of Tears. Soon, Will Greenberg and Sara Nixon-Kirschner were cast, Jamieson Fry came aboard to direct their videos, and the rest is history.

Over the past few years SOT has played to sold out audiences in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York. In March of 2007 SOT was awarded the jury prize for best Sketch Comedy at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.

Recently, SOT shot a pilot with Warner Brothers television, and Todd and Rob sold their screenplay “Beat Kip” to Paramount Vantage and Comedy Central. Summer of Tears is repped at Mosaic Media and ICM. For more info, contact summertears@gmail.com.
